30% of Grade- Art Projects, which are the long-term projects which go into the portfolio.

20% of Grade- Bell work Practice, which are daily practice activities. Credit or No Credit.

10% of Grade- Written Work, which are project Reflections and artwork Critiques.

10% of Grade- Tests and Portfolio, which are graded at the end of every semester.

Activities in Art Class:

Daily Bell work- Every day, students will spend no more than 10 minutes on a beginning of class assignment.  There will be an important lesson to learn from this warm up such as: observational drawing skills, elements or principles of design practice, artistic design challenge, or artist conversation.  Student artists are expected to be prepared to engage, create, and contribute to warm-ups.

Art Creation- Every day, students will work on their long term (1 to 3 week) art projects.  These will be important for their portfolio (collection of artworks).  Students are encouraged to include their identity, personal stories, and personality into all of their creations.

Reflection and Critique-Students will reflect upon every long-term artwork they create.  They are encouraged to see the positive and room for improvement in every piece.  They will also look at student artworks and fairly: describe, analyze, interpret, and provide helpful and constructive advice.

Portfolio Design-This portfolio is a collection of student artworks, which is to stay in the classroom for the duration of the school term.  Work will be returned at the end of the term, but their work will be used in displays and art shows during the year.

Bellwork Information
Notes: These warm ups will be due every 2 weeks.  Please put the work in the box it belongs to.
(Example: "9/14 Monday" bell work would go in "Monday's" box and you would write the date 9/24 on it.)

If you happen to put your warmup on another paper, it is important that you STAPLE it to your bell work worksheet when you turn it it.  I cannot grade work which is not turned in.
