For all Parents and Guardians with Students in Elementary School

To facilitate a smoother academic transition for all elementary students, the first semester of the elementary instructional calendar for grades TK - 5 will be extended to Thursday, February 11, 2021, allowing for teacher collaboration regarding students’ strengths and areas of need.

All teacher and student assignments will remain unchanged until that date. The goal of LEUSD continues to transition to face-to-face instruction as soon as it is safe. The extension of the first semester is aligned with that goal.

Class rosters will be readjusted at the new semester (beginning February 17, 2021) to reflect distance learning and cohort model at each elementary school site.

The Board of Trustees will reassess the tier assignment under the California Blueprint for a Safer Economy to determine when schools can reopen safely. Returning to the red tier in February is our hope and goal. Parents will receive class rosters in the second week of January. These schedules will reflect parental choice while protecting the medical needs of students and staff.
